The NHS is one the UK’s proudest achievements and every day hundreds of people are successfully treated and cared for by dedicated staff.
But health and care needs are changing. People are living longer and many of us have long-term conditions such as diabetes.
New ways of treating conditions are being discovered and advances in technology are helping us communicate in different ways.
To meet these challenges, organisations that provide health and care services in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland are working together to improve services. They are working to coordinate services better and keep people healthier and out of hospital. To do this it is essential we have greater involvement of patients, the public and stakeholders.
We have developed the Citizens’ Panel, to complement the other ways we involve people, to listen and learn from local residents. By sharing your feedback and opinions, you can help us to design and deliver care that takes into account what matters to people. The panel will be representative of the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland population and therefore feedback will be in tune with the attitudes of the entire population making it more robust.
Anyone can join the panel, as long as they are registered with a GP in Leicester, Leicestershire or Rutland and are 16 or older.
We actively recruit people to join the Citizens’ Panel that are different ages and from different backgrounds in the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland communities so that it embodies the views of everyone.
Anyone can join the panel voluntarily, as long as they are registered with a GP in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and are 16 or older.
The panel is designed for people who can give a few minutes each month to online surveys and questionnaires. There are also opportunities for people who want to volunteer more time and occasionally come along to a face-to-face focus group on a topic that interests them.
We will let you know what has been done with the information you have provided and update you on what is happening in health and care.
The polls, surveys, questionnaires and face-to-face focus groups will cover, over time, every aspect of health and care. This may include receiving care:
All your feedback is analysed and helps us to shape our plans and local services.
We will also feedback to you the results of the surveys and inform you of how we are acting on the information and ideas that panel members have given us.
It will not be possible to reply to every comment individually as we receive hundreds of responses. But you will be contacted regularly to let you know the results of the different survey and activities.
If you wish to make a formal complaint about health services or make a Freedom of Information Request you should direct your enquiries through to the relevant organisations:
Your personal data will be held securely by LLR CCG's and Enjoy Digital and not be shared with any third parties. By signing up to the Citizens’ Panel, you agree that your personal data can be used to send you surveys, emails and information that we believe you may be interested in.
Your consultation responses will be linked to the demographic information you supply when you register with the panel, but your responses will be anonymous.
The Citizens’ Panel has been set up by Better Care Together, the Sustainability and Transformation Partnership in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland
If anyone misuses the Citizens’ Panel or falsely participates (e.g. answering all questions in a survey with the same answer) they will be removed and no further correspondence will be sent to them. Abusive behaviour will result in removal from the panel.
